Spartan Race!

For the past three weeks I have been trying very hard to get back into shape and despite a plateau every now and then things are going well. Thinking about how much better I have been feeling I decided I wanted to look into doing a sprint triathlon in the next year. While I was looking for which one to do, I stumbled upon the Spartan Race.

The overwhelming awesomeness of this race is overwhelmingly awesome! Of course if you reed their website carefully then you will see that the winner automatically gets to be entered into the Death Race.

It seems like such a crazy race that would be fun to try, but I am not sure how well I would do in an 11 hour race, probably very poorly.

This may be the greatest thing EVER!

Today I stumbled across the most amazing Batman fan film ever, The Amazing Adventures of Little Batman. It is a 30 minute film acted out entirely by kids, and even better it is done in the style of the Adam West TV show.

Adobe Contribute and the Re-Birth of my Blog

I have recently started using Adobe Contribute which should make managing this so much easier and more efficient. So much so that I don't really have any good reason why I can't update things. For those of you who are theater fans out there and live in the Los Angeles area, I heartily recommend you make some time to see APU's production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. Having seen the show once already I can tell you that this show is amazing! Everything has been done extremely well from the acting to the choreography to the set design and music. It is a show that is definately worth seeing. It is only playing for two more weekends and most of the shows are sold out already, but if have the time and can get tickets you will not be disappointed.

So during this time of financial difficulty that the country is in, most people look for ways to supplement their income. It was along those lines that I stumbled across a web site http://www.johncow.com . This site is a great resource for anyone who is looking at using the web and their own blogging skills to try and make some extra cash. It has links to companies that will pay you for having adds on your blog to companies that will pay you to blog about their clients. This site is a treasure trove of options for the new Internet entrepreneur.

Beyond that they are currently running a contest that anyone in their right mind would die for. The prize is an xbox 360 elite system with a copy of Grand Theft Auto 4. For anyone who is into video games, this is the holy grail of all the different 360 systems. Even if you aren't really into video games this isn't something that you should just be skipping over, it is that important. The Internet 101

Over the weekend it occurred to me, there is too much stuff on the web. Now normally this is a good thing, but more often then not it ends up with you telling a story or trying to reminisce with a friend about something on the internet that "everyone" has seen and they have no idea what you are talking about. This being the case I will try and impart what I feel are the essentials and then hopefully update those areas as the days go along. So Let us get started.

Lesson 1:

Everyone is a Youtube Star

In our world of digital cameras everywhere it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to create a video and put it up for the world to see, critique and ridicule. This being the case we often get some very creative and inspired videos added to the web. However, more often than not we just get a stupid video that someone thought was a good idea at the time without really thinking it through. So to make sure everyone is on the same page, here are a few of the most infamous videos some great like Will Ferral's short, "the Landlord" and some tragic like the "Uber Video Game Nerd". But before you indulge in those watch this brief introduction video that does a very good job wrapping it up.

Two in one week, how can this be! That right folks, I am happy to be putting up another installment of Little Protesters. I was inspired last night while watching Miami Ink to create this one. A girl on the show was complaining about Corporate America (which is why she was getting a tattoo of a robot with a briefcase shooting itself in the head, makes sense right?) yet she was dressed in all the finest that Corporate America had provided. I guess she didn't really understand what she was protesting.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I was helping my wife do some work on the latest set she has designed, Little Shop of Horrors. Long time no Post!

So life seems to get crazy every now and then. I just seem to have come through one of those crazy times, or maybe this is just the eye of the Storm. Anyways, I wanted to make sure and get some news up here about a few things.

First: I am proud to announce the opening of my store for the blog. How cool am I now right! Ok so there isn't exactly that much there, but it is a start. Check it out here at http://www.cafepress.com/therandomswag go buy stuff.

Second: Over the weekend I threw a Tool Shower for my best friend. No we didn't stand around and throw tools at him (that would have been fun too, but that was not this) rather it was a male bonding time for a guy before he gets married, separate from the bachelor party. It was a lot of fun (I will post pictures soon) and to top it off, Steve Hanneman showed up. For those of you who don't know Steve Hanneman is a contractor that is on multiple shows on HG TV. Not only is one of the coolest guys I know (and yes I have his phone number on my cell phone, so that makes me cool too) but he is also one of most genuine and kind people I have ever met. He didn't even know the guy that we were throwing th party for, but he showed up with some gifts in tow. Talk about a class act.

Anyways, I am hoping that things will calm down a bit and I will be back to posting more regularly. I know all of you (what maybe 3 people who have seen this blog) have wondered what was going on.

How we long for the days of the Brood Wars

I can remember them like they were yesterday, those short 3 hour game of Starcraft. Having fully dominated the single player and only finding solace in destroying my friends online, I longed for something more, that something was Starcraft: Broodwar. This was a very important occasion and with all important events in life, a sport was made around it. The Korean Starcraft League was born, and still goes strong today. In honor of that and the count down to Starcraft 2, I am very pleased to direct your attention to the youtube chanel of diggitysc. He has taken up the gauntlet to bring exciting commentary on that which is the KSL (it is actually called the MSL, but who is keeping track right).

For those of us out there that grew up with Mr. Potato Head (and I am referring to the plastic one with the parts in the butt, not the crazy ancient version our parents had where you had to provide your own potato), how many wished you had a few ore options to customize it with. You might have guessed that I am excited for it to be Friday, not that my week was bad by any means, but today has just gone down hill all afternoon. That is why I am especially excited for todays Crazy Asian Crap (today we can take that phrase literally)! This weeks installment combines the two worlds of Drinking and keeping your bowels loose. Thats right ladies and gentlemen a bear that also has a laxative effect. This thing just screams frat house prank, but the add is the best. For those of you living under a rock, a little game called Halo 3 was released a little while ago with a release day that would make George Lucas jealous. What was probably the most anticipated event of the next gen console wars arrived with a Bang! (of the sound of a cash register, one of them) And with a major release comes the contests and the giveaways. One such contest is being offered by Leo Chiang, you may remember him as the tattooed pilot on Battlestar Galactica, come on you know the one I am talking about. Well he has a contest running right now with Halo3 as the prize, but not just the basic version of Halo 3, we are talking the "Holy Crap that is a kick butt replica of a Spartan helmet" Legendary Edition of Halo 3, you know, the good one. Little Susie Got Bit by a Snake!

For those of you that went through grade school during the late 80’s and early 90’s you may remember a classic game called Oregon Trail. It was the magical game where you tried to make your way to Oregon while avoiding rivers, trying to hunt animals that were clearly on speed, and praying that little Susie wouldn’t die from some bizarre disease. I have such fond memories of this game, and spending countless hours trying to get to Oregon without anyone dying, yet somehow Little Susie never made it. In honor of the original version of the game, a game called the Thule Trail has been released online. Same idea, but it is a road trip and you are trying to make it to a big concert in California. See if you can make it in one piece.
